IN THE VIBRANT RHYTHM OF COLOR
In these times of rampant virtuality, of images freed of any physical objectivity, art seems inexorably destined to fantastic realms of pure superficiality, whether successfully or not has yet to be determined. One of the consequences of this is thbeing more of a sociological than technical nature, they are necessary in order to fully understand the expressive force of at even the simplest of joys evoked by a beatiful painting may become a ( much sought-after) rarity. Although these preliminary considerations may be interpreted as Mauro Carbonetta. His paintings are intense with no esoteric disgression. They are entirely concentrated on the expression of the emotional force of the subject and its representation. How does the artist intensify his images? Bascally through the power of pure color wich coalesces the forms into a image in which symbol and reality become a syncronous composition. Carbonetta works by means of syntheses and achieves his results with a thick brush-strokes, saturated with paint, yet fluid so that his compositions acquire movement and sort of spatial breath. This painter works along the lines of a vigorous naturalism, sensitive to the call of memory and evocation, but never loses himself in sentimental transiense. The themes dealt with by Carbonetta are many: still life, illustrations, landscape painting and female nudes. In all cases he approaches his art with the same determination, avoiding any and all affectedness typical of impressionistic lyricism. Although his creativity seems to be based in Van Gogh, he always keeps a balance between the value of his descriptions and his need to express himself, to communicate by means of a stimulating and pliable emphasis on color. Thanks to the consistency of his tone-colors the subject is enhanced with a healthy limpidness of color wich never becomes excessvely flattened. The painter was born in Villa S. Maria in the province of Chieti. He attended the "G. Palizzi" State School of Art in Lanciano and afterwards the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples. Through the years, Carbonetta has developed to a significant extent his sense of unending research. His work offers to the viewer the essentiality of an emotion and transorms it into a coherent stylistic expression. For Carbonetta painting means emphasizing the force of true feelins and his authentic vocation as a beholder of life. Particularly in ement with the female spirit, still lifes and portraits are constants of his painting. In his portraits one may note the psychological dept, the intensity of color and the cohesive synthetic resolution that invigorate these works by means of a fascinating configuration of the image. All this conveys a critical and ideal depht to Carbonetta 's work and his sensitive trust in the simple and infinite values of art.
