Griante è un bel posto per vivere, non troppo caldo in estate e non troppo freddo
in inverno.
Di questo si erano bene accorti i signorotti inglesi, che a fine '800 vi hanno costruito le
loro splendide ville, che fanno da corona al nostro paese.Il turista di passaggio sul lungolago quasi non si accorge della presenza del paese, in quanto esso sorge su di un'ampio pianoro posto una cinquantina di metri più in alto. 
Il paese pur non essendo molto popolato (circa 700 abitanti) è abbastanza vasto,
ed è diviso in varie frazioni, ognuna con una sua ben definita fisionomia.
Sul lungolago venendo da Como, si incontrano Cadenabbia e Maiolica
con i loro grandi alberghi, bar e ristoranti che pur avendo perso parte del prestigio che
avevano nel secolo scorso (soppiantato dal turismo di massa), possiedono ancora un loro
fascino dovuto all'architettura "Bella epoque" e "Liberty" con cui sono costruiti.Salendo per la strada che parte da Maiolica, si giunge a Ravina, che è un po il cuore pulsante del paese, in quanto vi sono concentrate le poche attività artigianali e il Municipio. 
Proseguendo si raggiunge Griante con il suo centro storico fatto di stradine
lastricate e portichetti.Da qui, proseguendo verso sud, e salendo di un'altra cinquantina di metri, si raggiunge Calvonno, uno dei polmoni verdi del paese, in cui il tempo sembra essersi fermato. 
Proseguendo verso nord, si raggiunge invece Carsolina placidamente adagiata ai piedi

Griante is a beautiful place to live - not too hot in the summer and not too cold in
the winter.
The rich English aristocracy realised this and up to the end of the 19th Century built
wonderful villas to enhance our countryside.The passage of tourists along the lakeside do not always notice the countryside which rises to a plateau over 50 metres above the lake. 
The village is not intensely populated (about 700 inhabitants) but is spread out into a
number of areas, each with its own characteristics.Travelling along the lake from Como, you first come across Cadenabbia and Maiolica with big hotels, cafes and reastaurants. 
They may have lost some of the prestige of the last century (because of the volume of
tourists) but they are still fascinating becase of their architechture "Bella epoque"
and "Liberty".
Climbing the street from Maiolica, you arrive at Ravina, that is the heart of the
town where you'll find local craftsmen and the own Town Hall.Going on you find Griante with his historic center of paved lane and small porch. 
From here, travelling south and climbing another 50 metres, you reach Calvonno,
one of the greenest parts of the village, in which time seems to have stopped.Going north, you reach Carsolina, nestling at the foot of the mountain and here the path starts for the walk to the sanctuary of 
This is a very tiring walk but you can enjoy wonderful views of the lake and Pilone,
Nava and Crocione mountains.
