Personal Data:
Born in Florence on June 17, 1971.
Italian Citizenship.

Education:
Graduated with a Laurea degree in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Milano on July 18, 2000. Final rating 86/100.
My graduation thesis examined the minimum energy trajectory problem of a four degree of freedom robotic manipulator to be built by the Italian Space Agency ASI as a contribute to the unmanned space probe exploration initiative of the planet Mars. To do this, it was necessary to study the geometry, kinematic and dynamics of the manipulator.
I have written an article in English on my thesis work, that was proposed for publication on some international robotics and mechanics journal.

CELF (Certificat d'Etudes de Langue Française) diploma obtained in October 1993.

Certificate of attendance to the course "Mission analysis for space systems" held by Franco Ongaro of ESA hq at the Politecnico di Milano Department of Aerospace Engineering from May 22 to 26, 1995.

Attendance to the SOCS - Sparse Optimal Control Software Workshop held by John T. Betts of Boeing at the Politecnico di Milano Department of Aerospace Engineering in May 2000.

Working Experience:
1996-1997: Assistant Librarian in a public library near Udine, Italy
October-November 2000: Substitute Teacher of mechanics and CAD design in a professional high school in Monza, Italy
March, 2001-March 2004: Project Engineer for Brime Italia Srl engineering consultancy society in Milan, Italy
March 2004-May 2005: Junior Structural Engineer for Eur.E.Ca. engineering consultancy society in Milan, Italy
Since May 2005: Structural Engineer for Assystem engineering consultancy society in Milan, Italy

Projects in which I have been involved:
  • Detail design and drafting of a car pedal system for Maserati. This work was carried out using Pro/Engineer 2001i2 for 3D modelling and drafting.

  • Project and design of a mechanical blocking system for a three phase medium voltage (24/36 kV) electrical disconnector. Final contractor: IMEQuadri. This work was entitely carried out in CATIA V422 using 3D modelling, 2D drafting and assemblying modules.

  • Assistance on project management on a project for innovative remotely controlled electrical power distribution substations. Contractor: Balfour Betty Rails (Bombardier). Final contractor: Italian railways.

  • Commercial management of the construction of an injection mould for plastic materials. Final Contractor: Siemens.
  • Project and design of a lightweight portable crane system to help in mating ETR-500 type Italian fast train cars. Work carried out in CATIA V422 using 3D modelling, surface, 2D drafting and assemblying modules. Use of Autocad 21.

  • Teacher of internal courses on the use of Catia v.4.22 for 3D design and modelling.
  • Leader of a four people team designing the structures of the whole coaches of the new Spanish Lanzaderas high speed train, to run the Madrid-Barcelona line starting in 2004. Work carried out in CATIA V422 using 3D modelling, surfaces, 2D drafting modules. Project Data Management (PDM) was carried out in an Enovia VPM environment. Total hours on this project: some 1200. This work was a consultancy for Alstom Savigliano (former Fiat Ferroviaria). Final contractor: Spanish railways (RENFE).

  • Revamping of the auxiliary converter rack used on Milan subway trains. Work carried out in CATIA V422 using 3D modelling, 2D drafting modules. Project Data Management (PDM) was carried out in an Enovia VPM environment. Contractor: Alstom Sesto San Giovanni.
  • Structural analysis and validation of an helicopter landing gear actuation valve. A preliminary analysis was carried out in Pro/Mechanica, the final analysis was carried out in Patran/NASTRAN using TET and RBE elements. The two valve  omponents were verified at burst pressure and 20 g acceleration. Screws and caps were verified at burst pressure. Stress concentration factor due to notches in the pressure areas was evaluated in Patran/NASTRAN using CTRIAX elements. Total hours on this project: some 150.
  • Configuration study, structural analysis and validation of the in-flight refuelling probe of the Aermacchi M346 advanced jet trainer. The tube was verified under prescribed loads using Patran/NASTRAN's CBAR elements. Use of plastic range theories (Cozzone). Tightening components were verified using CTRIAX elements and the constrained areas were verified using HEX elements. Structural analysis for imposed displacements of the aerodynamic fairing was prepared. Use of Bruhn, etc. Total hours on this project: some 300.
  • Project of several stations of an ice cream packaging machine. This work was carried out using Pro/Engineer in an Intralink PDM environment. Final contractor: Tetra Pak.

  • Project and drafting of a mobile test equipment rack for the on board equipments of French railway trains. Final contractor: Alstom.

  • Project, drafting and industrialization of an air intake/air exhaust complex for air conditioning on an executive airplane. Work carried out in CATIA V422 using NAS standards.

  • Realigning of the database of Catia drawings and 3D models of the Lanzaderas train coaches between Alstom Savigliano and Alstom Barcelona. This work was entirely carried out in an Enovia VPM environment.

  • Realigning of the database of Catia 3D models of the "Minuetto" Italian regional train on board equipments between Alstom Savigliano and Alstom Germany. This work was entirely carried out in an Enovia VPM environment using Catia 4D Navigator.

  • Project of the pneumatic system of the Italian Bari Nord and Trento Male' regional trains. Work carried out using Catia V422, Enovia VPM and Catia TU3 tubing module (Image: Alstom)

  • Structural analysis of modifications to the Indian Railways' BRNA freight wagon in order to carry rail laying machines. Work carried out in FEMAP/Visual NASTRAN.

  • Structural analysis of medical kit fittings and composite heliambulance stretcher

  • Structural analysis of revamping of the Italian railways Le724 locomotive

  • Structural analysis of several different types of freight wagons for carrying trucks and containers

  • Structural/thermal analysis of tanks for oil cracking stations

  • Structural analysis of an heavyweight telescopic crane

  • Structural analysis at launch loads of some components of an equipment rack for the International Space Station European Columbus Attached Payload Module

  • Preliminary dimensioning of metallic components of the tail central box of the Boeing 787 passenger airplane. (Boeing image)

  • Structural analysis in support of certification of the engine "nacelles" of a corporate jet.

  • Preliminary structural analysis with static and fatigue loads of components of the Boeing 787 GENx engine nacelle
