Stereolab Music Site - Introduction

:A little bit of theory!

Tuning the guitar:
Stereolab are not Sonic Youth (fortunately!) and so you don't need to tune your guitar in a strange way (I think), so tune it as usual. If you don't have a diapason you could use one of the groop song (for example "The Flower Called Nowhere" from "Dots and Loops" starts with a D).

A little chords' theory:
I've been listening to Stereolab songs for many years and I found that there are two recurrent chords (one major and one minor) that is the X 7+(also known as Xmaj7) and the Xm 7, where X is the note of the chord. I use this notation for chords: A, B, C, D, E, F, G also known as LA, SI, DO, RE, MI, FA, SOL. For the major chord I use this:

[where "n" is the number of the fret: if it is 0 it means that it is a A 7+ (with the fifth string (the "A") played free).
The red note gives the chord name and you can do a Barrè on that fret.]

or the usual major chord (not 7+) for example:

For the minor chord I will always use one of these two:

where "m" is:
m = n + 5    if   n < 7
m = n  - 7    if   n >= 7

REMEMBER: you must do the barrè with your index-finger in the fret with the red note!
